IMES makes key appointment to defence division

IMES, which provides inspection, monitoring and engineering solutions to the global energy, defence and industrial markets, has appointed Derek Foster to the role of Strategic Growth Executive.


Mr Foster, 55, is based at the firm’s Plymouth facility where he is responsible for assisting in securing and developing contracts for the defence arm of IMES.


The defence section of IMES carries out maritime lifting inspection, load testing and non-destructive testing (NDT) services for a host of corporate prime contractor clients including the Ministry of Defence and the United States Navy.


Mr Foster, who over the past 25 years has previously held a number of senior roles in the defence and marine sectors and spent more than 15 years in the Royal Navy prior to that and said he was delighted to be working with IMES.


He said: “There is huge potential within IMES to bring our in-house expertise and capabilities to the wider market, which is exactly what we are doing with our defence arm.

“We have a great team with many years’ experience and an enviable portfolio of products and solutions to help clients achieve their goals quickly and cost-effectively.

“I am delighted be to working with IMES to help the business continue to grow and seek out new work for high-profile customers both in the UK and internationally.”
