IMES has appointed a new business development manager as the company targets further strategic growth.

Ewan Giles, who is based at the company’s HQ in Aberdeen, is responsible for driving growth in the company’s traditional service lines, while also promoting its UK-wide capability for developing innovations to solve industry issues.

IMES is a leading marine and subsea company, providing load life cycle management solutions to the oil and gas, defence and industrial markets.  The company is an independent specialist provider of inspection services, engineering consultancy and bespoke load measurement products, ensuring safe operation of cranes, lifting gear and other specialised structures.

Jason Smith, chief operating officer at IMES, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Ewan to the IMES team. His management experience at several firms will be an asset to our business.  I worked with Ewan on several projects during his time in engineering consultancy and I know he can provide a professional, confident service while developing trust with clients.

“Ewan has previously held key roles at oilfield supply companies and engineering consultancy businesses.  With almost 10 years of Oil and Gas sales experience, his time in consultancy will be invaluable to the company plans.”

Ewan, who previously held a customer support manager role at oilfield rental firm Airpac Bukom, said: “It’s great to be part of a company looking to develop and move forward. It’s an exciting time for the business.
“Our track record in providing and developing solutions creates scope for growth in the Aberdeen market and further afield. We’ve recently completed a series of projects in the UK, mainland Europe, China and Singapore. There is huge potential here with companies eager to tap into our expertise, products and services.

“It is especially refreshing to work for an organisation that is forward thinking in its attitudes towards the sales process and where strong customer relationships are taken so seriously.”
