Regulation, safety & compliance

The lifting equipment industry requires the supply chain, from users to suppliers, to ensure crane and lifting apparatus is compliant with the most relevant and up to date legislation for the region of the world or industry.

Imes prides itself in its awareness of current and impending legislation and aims to be the trusted source for our clients. We have designated Technical Authorities within our business who provide internal and external points of contact on regulatory matters to help guide inspectors and clients towards compliance.

For Marine clients we draw upon guidelines from industry bodies such as IMCA as well as Statutory Instruments such as SI2184 and SI2166 (introduced September 08) for UK flagged vessels or those operating in UK waters. We are also an MCA approved ILSTO provider for load testing in accordance with MSN 1803 (M).

In the UK, for offshore platforms and onshore facilities we are fully conversant with SI2307 commonly known as LOLER 98.

To help you through the regulatory maze, please feel free to contact us.
