History
Imes Group Milestones
1979 - Water Weights Ltd is formed and revolutionises proof load testing with the introduction of the water-filled proof load bag. This brings significant advances in safety and cost effectiveness to the UK offshore oil and gas industry.
1980 onwards - Water Bag technology is exported internationally, and licensing agreements and alliances are established globally.
1985 onwards - Water Bag technology is developed for the construction, defence, marine and shipping, and power generation industries.
1990 - Water Weights is increasingly involved in engineering based work.
1994 - Water Weights businesses in USA are consolidated; Water Weights Inc is formed.
1997 - Water Weights Ltd's name is changed to Industrial and Marine Engineering Services (Imes) Ltd, to reflect the engineering work now being undertaken. Imes Group Ltd is also formed at this time.
2000 - Imes Ltd wins the In-Service Support contract for the UK Trident Submarine Strategic Weapons System.
2000 - Buchan Inspection Services Ltd, established 1985, joins Imes Group Ltd, bringing third party independent lifting equipment inspection and certification expertise to the Group.
2001 - Imes Ltd purchases Davy Weighing Systems from Kvaerner, providing a skills-rich team with over 40 years worth of weighing and system integration experience.
2002 - Buchan Inspection Services Ltd's name is shortened to Buchan Inspection Ltd, whilst Davy Weighing Systems becomes Davy Systems, reflecting their increased focus on the integration of all types of monitoring systems.
2002 - Building on the success of Water Weights, Imes Inc is established in the United States, with Water Weights and Imes LMS becoming trading divisions. Imes LMS is established to provide load measurement systems to the North American market.
2003 - Water Weights Europe BV, based in Sliedricht, Netherlands joins Imes Group. As one of Imes Group's original alliances, with over 20 years of operation and local knowledge, this acquisition gives the Group easier access into European markets.
2003 - LMS Bv's team and assets transfer to Imes LMS and Davy Systems, extending the Group's load and force measurement and monitoring capability. LMS Bv, of the Netherlands, supplied the Group with telemetry based load shackles and links and bespoke force and load measurement solutions for over ten years.
2004 - Davy Systems and Imes LMS amalgamate to form IMES, positioned to offer clients a global monitoring and measurement service provided by one supplier.
