Accreditations
In September 1998, UKAS awarded Buchan Inspection ISO/IEC 17020 (EN45004) Type A for Lifting Equipment for In Service Inspection Bodies. Buchan Inspection is one of only a few companies in the UK accredited to this level. Inspection bodies accredited to ISO/IEC also meet the relevant requirements of the BS EN ISO 9000 series of standards.

Buchan Inspection is a member of IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association).

Buchan Inspection is a full member of SAFed (Safety Assessment Federation) and actively participates on the Advisory Panel for Lifting Equipment and the Technical Steering Committee.

Skills
The excellence of service Buchan Inspection provides to its clients is determined by the collective capability and knowledge of its engineers. To this end, rigorous standards of quality are applied, met and maintained by the engineering team.

Only experienced and mature engineers holding relevant qualifications are recruited. Internal assessments are used to ensure capability and competency before engineers are deployed to clients, along with relevant training courses. All engineers are also subject to periodic professional review and re-assessment.

Credentials include:
  • significant experience in the design, manufacture, maintenance, use or inspection of lifting equipment;
  • engineers with a minimum of 8 years experience in lifting equipment and testing and 5 years experience in inspection, both on and offshore;
  • qualified to Category 2, 3 and 4 of UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) Guidance Notes RG0 and RG6;
  • qualified to ASNT (American Society of Non - Destructive Testing) Level II in Magnetic Particle Inspection, Level II in Ultrasonics, Accoustic Emissions and in some cases ASNT Level II Dye Penetrant inspection;
  • Varco BJ (UK) certified inspectors of drilling tools and top drives.
